How do I read sheet music in 4/2 time signature?

It basically means that instead of having four quarter notes per bar, you would have four half notes (or the equivalent of) per bar. To keep time, you could either count eight beats per bar (1 for every quarter note), or if you want to count as it's written, count 1/2 beat per quarter note (1 and 2 and..)
