What is between the brain and the skull?

I mean, I know the skull houses the brain, and any buildup of fluid could cause pressure and damage to the brain, but what is around the brain to keep it from, you know, like hitting against the skull when you wobble your head? Is it just sort of laying in there, or is there any special fluid or structure there to cushion it?
